There comes a time in every life when the world gets quiet and the only thing left is your heart.

I’m Jo Lynn.

A coach, writer, speaker, optimistic introvert dedicated to help introverts (if you’re one, then it’s you!) to connect with anyone anytime.

I believe that your ability to connect with the right people at the right time is crucial to transform your business, career and life. Just the way you dream of.

Me (in green) and my sisters

Born and raised Malaysian Chinese girl, I have nothing more than a heart full of rebellion and a mind full of thoughts in my tiny Asian body.

I grew up in a small Malaysian town where my neighbors still remembered each other’s name. Have you watched those TV shows with gossipy neighbours that’ll tell on you? Let me tell you this. They were real.

People kept re-telling stories about how playful and naughty I was. I always heard about how much headache I gave my dedicated and loving Chinese parents. My parents and I looked back and laugh about it from time to time. I still blushed thinking about my rebellion.

As time went by, I noticed how much struggle I had to connect with people. I became super-picky of what I said. Or else, I just said nothing at all. I just didn’t want to get exhausted for nothing.

I never surrounded myself with too many friends in school. The popularity contest was never my thing.

At some point, I learned about my introversion. You see. Asian culture encourages introversion. Parents love quiet kids that never talk back. When kids behave in public, parents’ll feel so proud.

Silence is a virtue.

My culture still sees introversion as shyness. I didn’t want to be labelled as “shy girl”. It was a miserably helpless moment. Wouldn’t it be great if someone would tell me, “Don’t believe it. It’s not true!”

Of course, the person would have spoilt all the learning experience for me.

Kickstarting My Career

The beginning of my career was the most energy draining years of my life. I chose to be in technology field because it was supposed to be the heaven for nerds.

However, the networking element of my career became dreadful because I just did not quite understand how formal relationship at work functioned.

So I was pondering over a decision to quit my job to travel around the world alone.

Suddenly, I was offered a job in The Netherlands. And I said, yes. I gave up everything I had including my relationship.

I packed my life in boxes and entered a world so far apart from what I was used to. What I didn’t know at the time was, I just accepted the biggest change of my introvert life. And I tackled it head on.

I experienced significant culture shock as an Asian introvert in a very extroverted country. I had to learn a new language, different communication styles and unusual social behaviors in personal and work life.

That unplanned move has led to many other changes in my life. I fell in love, went all out and married an very extroverted introvert. I could not ask for more.

Now, I have friends for life and a great job in a Fortune 500 company. These were things I never thought I would have.

However, with years gone by, I still never understood what made me thrive after moving to an even noisy extrovert’s world. Thankfully, together with millions other introverts, I came across Susan Cain’s Quiet that gave me new perspectives about introversion vs extroversion personalities.

I’m now on my personal quest to have better understanding of introvert’s and extrovert’s behaviors. The Quiet Wisdom will be the platform for me to share what I learn and connect with others that want to do the same.

Being aware of my introversion behaviors helped me to change specific areas of my life through conscious effort.

Being quiet made me even stronger and more observant to wisdom practiced by others in their everyday life.

I have learned a lot from other introverts that have turned struggles into fulfilling life. I will share my stories on this site and welcome your stories any time.
